Quotations from The Book of Revelation

The Book of Revelation

The Book of Revelation (circa 95 A.D.), often called the Revelation to John, the Apocalypse of John, The Revelation, or simply Revelation is the final book of the New Testament, and therefore also the final book of the Christian Bible. It occupies a central place in Christian eschatology. Its title is derived from the first word of the text, written in Koine Greek: apokalypsis, meaning “unveiling” or “revelation.” Many maintain that nothing can be known about the author except that he was a Christian prophet. Some modern scholars characterise Revelation’s author as a putative figure whom they call “John of Patmos.” The bulk of traditional sources date the book to the reign of the Roman emperor Domitian (81 – 96), and the evidence tends to confirm this.
