Titus Lucretius Carus (circa 99 – 55 B.C.E.) was a Roman poet and philosopher. Virtually nothing is known about his life. The only record of his work is the poem On the Nature of Things, consisting of six untitled books, in dactylic hexameter. He is regarded as the first writer to introduce Roman readers to the tenets and philosophy of Epicureanism.
