Claudian (circa 370 – 404), also known as Claudius Claudianus, was a Latin poet born in Alexandria and associated with the court of the emperor Honorius at Mediolanum (Milan), and particularly with the general Stilicho. His work falls into three main categories: poems for Honorius, poems for Stilicho, and mythological epic. Claudian’s poetry is a valuable historical source.
