Albert Schweitzer (1875 – 1965) was a theologian, organist, writer, humanitarian, philosopher, and physician. He received the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of “Reverence for Life”. He gave expression to its development in numerous books and publications during his life as well as in manuscripts which have recently been published. He also used his hospital in Lambarene in Gabon (Central Africa) to demonstrate this philosophy in practice.
