Let Timeless Wisdom Free You From Anxious Thoughts and Feelings

Anxiety has been a major part of the daily human experience — well, forever it seems. And with everything we’ve done to make ourselves feel better about all of life’s often startling events, it seems we just become more anxious.

But the great sages have always told us a new view of life would show us the deeper source of anxiety and start us on the road to freedom from it. For example, this is what the philosopher Spinoza had to say about it:

Baruch Spinoza (1632 – 1677)

I saw that all things which occasioned me any anxiety or fear had in themselves nothing of good or evil, except in so far as the mind was moved by them. — Baruch Spinoza (1632 – 1677)

Spinoza is saying life events in and of themselves are not good or evil. They are impersonal. It is the mind of the individual observing the event, with its wants and not wants, its past history, its need for self-protection, that sees the event as something that should cause anxiety. And if that’s true (which it is), a critical step to becoming free of anxiety is to begin to see events as they actually are, and not as the mind has distorted them and their meaning for us.

Imagine how different our lives would be if rather than struggling, endlessly, to change a world that troubles us, we could see that the unseen source of our stressing over it is hidden within the chaos of the conditioned way we think about it. Then, instead of experiencing confusion and dissatisfaction, we could understand and begin to live this beautiful description of life’s higher possibilities that OneJourney founder Guy Finley offers us:
