O God, deliver me from the multitude of words within my own soul.
Grace is not bestowed according to human merits; otherwise grace would no longer be grace. For grace is so designated because it is given gratuitously.
In the future you will not clothe the naked, because everyone will be clothed in eternal light. You will not bury the dead because everyone wil be living life without end.
“Has the road an end or not?” He answered: “The road has an end, but the stations have no end, for the journey is twofold, one to God and one in God.”
An individual drop can be merged with the ocean, and still remain meaningful. He has found his “place.”
All the Messengers of God are the same and yet they are many; that God manifests in his Messengers, but that they are not God.
No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself.
Glory be to God who has not given to his creatures any way to attain knowledge of Him except by means of their helplessness and hopelessness of ever reaching such attainment.
Nothing is more practical than
finding God, than
falling in Love
in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with,
what seizes your imagination, will affect everything.
It will decide
what will get you out of bed in the morning,
what you do with your evenings,
how you spend your weekends,
what you read, whom you know,
what breaks your heart,
and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in Love, stay in love,
and it will decide everything.
Father Pedro Arrupe (1907 – 1991)
There are the springs of the Great Spirit… To bathe in them gives new life, to drink temperatures every bodily ill.
He raises the afflicted from a dunghill,
For he will settle him with the Rulers of the people.
All the efforts of the human mind cannot exhaust the essence of a single fly.
Therefore, if God’s essence is to be seen at all, it must be that the intellect sees it through the divine essence itself… so that in that vision the divine essence is both the object and the medium of vision.
Ye must love beyond yourselves. So ye must learn to love.
God is gathering us out of all regions till he can make resurrection of our own hearts from the very earth, and teach us that we are all of one substance, and members of one another. For the one who loves his neighbor loves God, and the one who loves God, loves his own soul.
Let none of us entertain the desire for possessions, for what gain is it to acquire those things which we cannot take with us? Why not rather acquire those that we can take: prudence, justice, temperance, fortitude, understanding, charity, love of the poor, faith in Christ, goodness, hospitality? If we obtain these, we shall find them there before us preparing a welcome for us in the land of the meek.
On Reincarnation: Ego reincarnates with each thought but dies between them — here lies secret power of being still.
All the water in the world,
However hard it tried,
Could never, never sink a ship,
Unless it got inside.
And all the evil in the world,
The blackest kind of sin.
Can never hurt you one least bit —
Unless you let it in!
If ever two were one, then surly we.
As ever man is loved by God, then truly me.
Walk in My presence and you will be perfect.
